The President of Ukraine imposed sanctions against 41 judges for illegal sentences of Ukrainian prisoners of war
President Volodymyr Zelensky signed decrees putting into effect the decision of the National Security and Defense Council on the introduction of sanctions against judges, involved in illegal sentences of Ukrainian prisoners of war.
The sanctions list includes 41 judges. Among them are 38 Russian citizens and three collaborators. According to the Office of the President, these individuals made illegal decisions to imprison Ukrainian prisoners of war, and also support and justify Russian aggression against Ukraine.
Among those subject to sanctions is a Russian judge who, in just one week, sentenced nine Ukrainian prisoners of war in fabricated terrorism cases.
Sanctions were also applied to former citizens of Ukraine who, in temporarily occupied Donetsk, sentenced three foreign volunteers to death – two Britons and one Moroccan. They defended Ukraine as part of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and were captured.
The list also included judges who made illegal decisions against public figures, activists, and journalists because of their political and religious beliefs.
In addition, the President signed a decree extending sanctions against 11 Russian companies whose restrictions were about to expire. The first sanctions against these companies were imposed in 2021 and 2023. During this time, three companies from the list have been liquidated, which, as noted, confirms the effectiveness of the sanctions policy.
The list includes an enterprise engaged in the repair and maintenance of aviation equipment, in particular Ka and Mi helicopters, a company for the development and production of drones, as well as structures that illegally operate on the temporarily occupied Crimean peninsula and were involved in the construction of the Crimean bridge.
“Ukraine will transfer all relevant information to partners for further synchronization in their jurisdictions”, the message states.
Previously, On February 28, the President also signed a decree implementing the NSDC decision on sanctions against ten Russian transport and logistics companies that deliver cargo to the temporarily occupied Ukrainian territories.
