The President of Ukraine signed the law on the payment of 50,000 hryvnias to defenders released from captivity
On October 11, the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy signed Law No. 13627, which provides for monthly payments of 50,000 hryvnias to servicemen released from captivity who require long-term inpatient treatment.
The document also regulates the procedure for issuing certificates on injuries or illnesses received during captivity. While previously such payments were granted only to soldiers with injuries, contusions or disabilities, the new law extends support to those who have acquired or aggravated serious illnesses while in captivity, and aims to provide the necessary financial support and eliminate bureaucratic obstacles for veterans during their recovery.
Prime Minister of Ukraine Yulia Svyrydenko thanked the people’s deputies and the president and announced that financial assistance will be provided during the first three months of rehabilitation:
“The President has signed the relevant law, thank you for your support. I am grateful to the People’s Deputies for adopting an important decision for our military. Support will be provided during the first three months of rehabilitation. Many military personnel have serious illnesses that require long-term treatment after being captured. The state guarantees assistance to everyone who has been captured. An important step for comprehensive support of our defenders.
