The Russians failed to repair the shunt reactor at the ZNPP

Russian specialists unsuccessfully tried to restore the damaged shunt reactor PL-750kV “Dniprovska”, located on the territory of the Zaporizhzhya nuclear power plant. About this reported “Energoatom” company.

The reactor is used to provide electricity for ZNPP’s own needs through one of the overhead lines connected to the territory controlled by Ukraine. However, the repair attempts, which continued since November 23, proved fruitless.

Twice after the completion of the work, the Russians tried to start the reactor, but both times it was shut down due to the activation of the protection systems. All actions were performed without the consent of the regional control center of the Ukrainian energy system, which is a gross violation of established norms and procedures.

“Energoatom” warned that such actions create a threat of a complete loss of power for the needs of the NPP, which could cause the development of a nuclear or radiation accident. The company emphasized that these events testify to the inability of the Russians to ensure the safe operation of the equipment and perform its proper maintenance. The lack of qualified personnel to carry out repairs only increases the risks.
