The SBI completed the investigation into the Armed Forces officer who gave grenades to a fallen colleague
As the State Bureau of Investigation established, during the celebration of Chastyakov’s birthday, the officer gave him grenades without warning about their authenticity.

The investigators of the Bureau completed the pre-trial investigation on March 29, 2024, after which the defense and the victims had the opportunity to get acquainted with the case materials. On that tragic day, they gave the deceased an explosive “gift” with grenades in honor of his birthday, “the message says.
The case file says that due to carelessness, mistaking the grenades for souvenirs, Chastyakov unpacked them at home, which led to the explosion. He died on the spot from his injuries, and his minor son was seriously injured.
The accused officer is charged with illegal distribution of ammunition, manslaughter and causing grievous bodily harm by negligence.
For what he committed, he faces up to 15 years in prison.
The right has been referred to the court, which will make the final decision on guilt and punishment.
