Employees of the State Bureau of Investigation together with the Security Service of Ukraine announced suspicion against the former director of energy efficiency and property management “Naftogaz Group”.
According to the version of the investigation, he, abusing his official position, signed a lease agreement for an administrative building in Kyiv even before the completion of repair work in the premises. Repairs lasted almost three months after the agreement was concluded, so the employees of Naftogaz of Ukraine could not move to a new office. Despite this, the rent has already been paid.
As a result, the company incurred excessive costs, and the state, in the form of Naftogaz of Ukraine, suffered losses of more than 26 million hryvnias. The former official is charged with abuse of office (Part 2 of Article 364 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
The sanction of the article provides up to six years of imprisonment. Procedural management is carried out by the Office of the Prosecutor General.
Let us remind you that on February 15, 2017, the former deputy head of Naftogaz Oleksandr Katsuba agreed to cooperate with the investigation in the case of embezzlement of state funds and has already compensated the state with 100 million hryvnias.
