Former MP Vadym Kolesnichenko is suspected of treason
The State Bureau of Investigation (SBI) announced suspicion of treason against former People’s Deputy Vadym Kolesnichenko, who previously represented the banned Party of Regions. He faces life imprisonment for this crime.
DBR press office reported, that the suspect is also accused of inciting national enmity using deception and glorifying the actions of the aggressor state. Although his name is not officially mentioned, NV sources confirm that it is about Kolesnichenko.
“Prior to the events of the Revolution of Dignity, the deputy took an active part in the attempts of the then authorities to make Ukraine’s integration into the EU impossible and instead to bring it closer to Russia. Among other things, he organized provocative actions to bring Ukraine and Poland into conflict.” — the SBI notes.
In 2014, after the Revolution of Dignity, Kolesnichenko prematurely resigned his parliamentary credentials and fled to the occupied territory of Crimea. There, according to law enforcement officers, he began to cooperate with the occupiers, taking the position of adviser in the occupation administration, and later unsuccessfully ran for the position of “governor of Sevastopol”.
“Not having received the desired positions and recognition, the traitor continued to carry out subversive activities against Ukraine. The deputy made anti-Ukrainian statements in the Crimean mass media, made anti-Ukrainian videos that were posted on the Internet for public viewing.”, says the message.
