The State Bureau of Investigation (SBI) has exposed the head of the State Environmental Inspectorate department for illegal enrichment.

Under the procedural guidance of prosecutors from the Prosecutor General’s Office, investigators from the State Bureau of Investigation exposed the head of the department of the State Environmental Inspectorate of the Prydniprovsky District (which covers Dnipropetrovsk and Kirovohrad regions) in illegal enrichment.
According to the investigation, the official, who is a person authorized to perform state functions, acquired unjustified assets worth more than 50 million UAH. These include an apartment with an area of over 100 m² in a premium residential complex and a BMW 520i car. To hide the illegal origin of the property, the ownership was registered in the name of one of her relatives.
During a search authorized by the court, 880 thousand US dollars, 210 thousand euros (a total of over 46 million UAH) and other valuables were seized from the suspect’s apartment.
The official was detained in accordance with Art. 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine. She was charged under Art. 368-5 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine – “illegal enrichment”.
The court chose a preventive measure in the form of detention with the possibility of posting bail in the amount of 30 million UAH. The pre-trial investigation is being conducted by investigators of the Main Investigation Department of the State Bureau of Investigation with the operational support of the Department of Strategic Investigations of the National Police of Ukraine.
Let us recall that according to Art. 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is presumed innocent of committing a crime until his guilt is proven in accordance with the law and confirmed by a court verdict of guilty.
