For the first time since 2022, Mykolaiv received a centralized water supply

For the first time since 2022, Mykolaiv has received a centralized supply of fresh water. As of October 7, 2025, it is already reaching consumers. reported this by the Minister of Community and Territorial Development of Ukraine Oleksii Kuleba.

“After the Russians blew up a key water main, more than half a million residents of Mykolaiv were left without a permanent water supply. In order to restore people’s access to fresh water, we built a new water main in a year – an extremely complex infrastructure project, Kuleba explained.

A new pipeline with a length of 136 kilometers was built in two strands of 67.9 km each, as well as pumping stations. In August 2025, the system was filled with water for the first time in compliance with technological requirements, and since October it has already been supplied to the population.

The State Agency for Reconstruction and Development of Infrastructure specified that Mykolaiv residents will receive about 120 cubic meters of water every day, and another 50 cubic meters are planned to be used for field irrigation.

“Works on the construction of modern water treatment facilities and the installation of solar power plants are being considered. The project assessment is ongoing, the agency clarified.

Cable networks are laid underground, and the structures of pumping stations are partially buried and additionally reinforced with soil. Currently, the arrangement of shelters for personnel is coming to an end.

Thanks to the expertise of the Reconstruction Agency, it was possible to reduce the cost of the project by more than 2.5 billion hryvnias – to 6.3 billion hryvnias, which is 25% less than the initial estimate. The saved funds will be directed to other water supply projects – in the Myrivska and Tomakiv communities in the Dnipropetrovsk region, the Bolgrad and Suvorovsky waterworks in the Odesa region, as well as in Lubny in the Poltava region and in Vapnyarka in the Vinnytsia region.
