The state has increased financial support for the families of deceased and missing servicemen
From March 1, 2026, Ukraine will increase targeted state assistance for the families of defenders who died or went missing while defending Ukraine from Russian aggression. This was announced by Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko.
“We are increasing the minimum pension payments for family members of deceased and missing defenders. The state must support the families of those who gave their lives defending the Motherland,” the Prime Minister emphasized.
According to her, the minimum pension payment for each disabled family member from among the parents, wives or husbands, as well as for one child of a deceased defender, or for a child who has been assigned state assistance instead of a pension, will be at least 12,810 hryvnias per person. Currently, the minimum payment for this category is 7,800 hryvnias.
In addition, the minimum pension payment will increase for families in which a pension or state social assistance is assigned to two or more members of the family of a deceased defender, with the exception of disabled parents, wives or husbands. In such cases, each family member will receive no less than 10,020 hryvnias, while currently this amount is 6,100 hryvnias.
The head of the government also announced that starting from March 1, 2027, the indicated amounts of payments will be subject to indexation each year. Separately, she recalled that the families of the fallen defenders have the right to a one-time cash assistance in the amount of 15 million hryvnias.
It is also noted that each serviceman of the Armed Forces of Ukraine has the right to a one-time cash assistance to resolve social and household issues. In 2026, the procedure for calculating and the grounds for such payments are clearly defined by the Ministry of Defense in order to ensure timely support for those who need it.
