The Supreme Court of Ukraine sentenced a former National Police officer to 7 years in prison
The Higher Anti-Corruption Court (HCAC) convicted the former head of one of the structural units of the State Police of the Chernivtsi region of inciting the granting of an illegal benefit and appointed he is sentenced to 7 years of imprisonment.
On August 19, 2025, the VAKS panel of judges announced the sentence to the former head of one of the structural units of the GUNP police in Chernivtsi region. He was accused of inciting a citizen to transfer 40,000 euros of illegal benefits for an alleged agreement with the deputy head of the Investigative Department of the State Police in Chernivtsi region to avoid criminal liability, as well as of taking possession of these funds.
The court found the exhibitor guilty of committing the crimes provided for in Part 4 of Art. 27, Part 2 of Art. 15, Part 3 of Art. 369 and Part 4 of Art. 190 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, and imposed the final punishment — 7 years of imprisonment with confiscation of all property owned by him.
Also, the court left in effect the previously applied preventive measure in the form of bail in the amount of 2 million hryvnias and imposed on the accused a number of procedural obligations until the verdict becomes final: not to leave the borders of the Chernivtsi district without the permission of the court, to hand in passports for traveling abroad or other documents that give such a right, and to wear an electronic control bracelet.
The verdict will enter into force 30 days from the moment of its announcement, unless it is appealed.
