The telethon remains: the new head of the Ministry of Culture rejected the possibility of its cancellation

The national telethon “Edyny Novyny” will not be canceled, as it performs a key informational role. Instead, it is necessary to focus on how to increase the trust of citizens in this broadcasting format. This was stated by the new Minister of Culture Mykola Tochytskyi during a meeting of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Humanitarian and Information Policy. performing also as a candidate for the post of minister.
“Regarding the marathon: it was, is and will be, you just need to find a form so that there is interest in the public. There are a large number of people who watch it, and it is just as important: to convey with a single voice what is happening around.” – said Tochytskyi.
The Minister also noted that he is ready to discuss possible changes in the telethon with the Committee, if there are reasonable comments. Adequate suggestions for improving the format will always be considered.
In May, it was reported that the telethon “Yedini Novyny” is undergoing a transformation, because, according to the Ministry of Culture, the informational needs of Ukrainians have changed. Although the details of future changes remain unknown at the moment, it has already been announced that “Suspilne” has decided to leave the project and start its own broadcasting on “Persha Kanal”. These changes took effect on May 21.
We will remind that the level of trust in the telethon among Ukrainians is less than 30% and has a tendency to decrease. It did not make it into the top 3 reliable sources of information about the war, which emphasizes the importance of adapting the format to keep it relevant.
