The Ukrainian Book Institute has launched an online database of translations of national literature
The Ukrainian Book Institute has launched an online database of translations of Ukrainian literature into various languages of the world. This was reported by the Ministry of Culture and Strategic Communications.
The initiative is aimed at popularizing Ukrainian authors abroad. Currently, the database contains more than 800 publications translated into English, Polish, Turkish, Portuguese, Spanish, Italian, German, Vietnamese, Thai, Indonesian, Slovenian, Slovak, Serbian, Hungarian, Croatian, Swedish, Norwegian, Icelandic, Greek, French, Estonian, Lithuanian, Czech, Bulgarian, Chinese, Crimean Tatar, in Arabic, Armenian, Azerbaijani and other languages.
The database conveniently provides original and translated titles of books, names of authors and translators, Ukrainian and foreign publishing houses, as well as years of publication. The catalog is regularly updated.
Among the translated works are books by Lyubko Deresh, Yevgenia Kuznetsova, Maria Matios, Serhiy Zhadan, Irena Karpa, Andrii Kokotyukha, Yuriy Vinnychuk, Yuriy Andruhovych, Oksana Zabuzhko, Myroslav Layuk, and many other modern authors. The list also includes translations of classics by Ivan Nechuy-Levytskyi, Lesia Ukrainka, Hryhoriy Skovoroda and others.
The writer and popularizer of the Ukrainian language Natalya Mysyuk, mentor and project manager Iryna Udovenko, as well as the team of the Ukrainian bookstore in Prague “Vusa Shevchenko” participated in the creation of the database.
