The value of Russian assets frozen in Britain exceeds 25 billion pounds

The value of Russian assets frozen under UK sanctions has exceeded £25 billion. About this it is said on the website of the Ministry of Finance of Great Britain.

According to government information, as of March 2025, 2,001 individuals and legal entities were included in the sanctions list against Russia.

“Sanctions introduced by Great Britain and its allies have significantly affected the Russian economy, depriving it of more than 400 billion dollars from February 2022, which is equivalent to four years of military spending of the Russian Federation”, — explained the British Ministry of Finance.

The UK government predicts that Russia’s federal budget will remain in deficit until at least 2026. The British Ministry of Finance also points to the lack of qualified workers in the country, rising inflation, high interest rates and economic isolation, which significantly complicate Russia’s access to financial resources.

“The UK has frozen £25bn (€29.7bn) of Russian assets and, working with our allies, we have saved Russia more than $400bn, the equivalent of four years of Russian military spending. We will continue to toughen our financial sanctions as part of our broader response to Russia’s barbaric invasion of Ukraine.”, — emphasized the economic secretary of the British Ministry of Finance Emma Reynolds.
