The Verkhovna Rada adopted a draft law on sending units of the Armed Forces to other states
The Verkhovna Rada supported draft law №14059, which allows sending units of the Naval Forces of the Ukrainian Armed Forces to other countries during the period of martial law. This is reports the press service of the Ministry of Defense.
“In connection with the ongoing large-scale armed aggression of the Russian Federation against Ukraine and the escalation of efforts by the aggressor to further capture the territory of our state, there was a need to send and stay military personnel, as part of units, on the territory of partner states, which will contribute to the acquisition of complex military equipment and professional mastery of its use to protect sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine”, says in the explanatory note.
The document provides for the dispatch to Turkey of the corvette of the Armed Forces Navy “Hetman Ivan Mazepa” with a crew of up to 106 servicemen. It is planned to send anti-mine ships Cherkasy, Chernihiv, Mariupol, Melitopol to Great Britain and Northern Ireland. and Genichesk, each of which will have up to 39 military personnel. The mission will also include the management of the 1st division of mine countermeasures ships of the Navy of the Armed Forces of Ukraine — a mine countermeasures headquarters numbering up to 20 servicemen.
“The adoption of the draft law will allow us to deepen our cooperation with our allies and strengthen security in the Black Sea and in general in the European region. That, in turn, will increase the capacity of the Ukrainian Naval Forces, emphasized Defense Minister Denys Shmyhal.
