The prosecutor of the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office sent to the court an indictment prepared based on the materials of the pre-trial investigation of the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine, regarding officials of the Kharkiv Region Tax Service, who are accused of receiving illegal benefits in the amount of 43 thousand US dollars.
According to information “Word and Deed”, this concerns the former acting head of the Main Department of the State Tax Service in the Kharkiv Region, Vasyl Gladchenko, and the head of one of the departments of this institution, Serhiy Marekhin.
The investigation established that one of the tax service employees persuaded a representative of a private enterprise to transfer a bribe to the management of the Main Department of the State Tax Service in the Kharkiv region. For this money, they promised to make a decision to exclude the company from the list of taxpayers who meet the risk criteria, as well as to ensure the registration of suspended tax invoices.
The money was intended for the head of one of the departments of the Main Department of the State Tax Service in the Kharkiv region and the head of the regional tax service. The actions of the former acting head of the Main Department of the State Tax Service in the Kharkiv region and the head of one of the departments were qualified under Part 4 of Article 368 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine – receiving an illegal benefit by an official. The court has already issued guilty verdicts for three more people – the head and employee of the department of the Main Department of the State Tax Service in the Kharkiv region and an entrepreneur.
We remind you that in accordance with Part 1 of Art. 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is presumed innocent of committing a crime until his guilt is proven in accordance with the law and confirmed by a court verdict of guilty.
