The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine expanded labor and social guarantees for military personnel
The Verkhovna Rada adopted a law that expands social, labor and pension guarantees for military personnel and their family members. The document regulates the rights of persons undergoing basic, conscript service, conscript service during mobilization and during a special period, under a contract, as well as military officers.
The law provides for the preservation of the workplace and position of employees conscripted or sent to service for the entire period of service. It also guarantees the payment of compensation for unused days of annual and additional vacation. The time of service will be counted towards the length of service and insurance, as well as towards the number of years of service for the purpose of pensions and benefits.
Separate provisions concern the support of military families. Family members will have a preferential right to employment, will be able to receive cash assistance during relocation, payment of sick leave and lump sum payments in the event of injury or death of a serviceman.
The document also establishes additional guarantees for those who were released from captivity or interned. They are provided with the preservation of payments, material assistance during treatment and compensation in the event of long-term inpatient care.
The law regulates the procedure for providing assistance in the event of injury or death of military personnel and civil defense service personnel. The maximum amount of a one-time payment is set at up to 15 million hryvnias, with a definition of the mechanism for its accrual.
“The law comprehensively strengthens social guarantees and labor rights of military personnel and their family members during martial law and special periods, ensuring their financial stability and protection against job loss”, the press service of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine noted.
