The Verkhovna Rada plans to allocate military levy only to military salaries

The Verkhovna Rada supported in the first reading draft law No. 15167, which provides for the transfer of military levy to a special fund of the state budget. This was discussed at a meeting of the Verkhovna Rada.

The full title of the document is “The Law on Amendments to Section VI of the Budget Code of Ukraine Regarding the Transfer of Military Levy to a Special Fund of the State Budget.”

According to the draft, from January 1, 2027, revenues from military levy should be directed to a special fund. The funds from it will be used exclusively for the financial support of servicemen of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

The bill was supported by the minimum required number of votes — 226 people’s deputies.

It is expected that such a mechanism will allow accumulating over 200 billion UAH each year. This money should be directed only to the provision of military personnel.

The creation of a special fund was also envisaged by bill No. 15110, which was a beacon of the International Monetary Fund and extended the military levy for three years after the end of the war.

Furthermore, amendments should be made to the bill, after which it will be considered in the second reading.
