The Verkhovna Rada wants to deprive the disabled of the right to work: details

The Social Committee of the Verkhovna Rada recommended the adoption of draft law No. 5344-d, which causes serious concern among experts and the community of people with disabilities.

Andriy Pavlovsky, social policy expert, expressed criticism of the draft law, calling it an attempt to deprive disabled people of the right to work and a decent life under the pretext of Europeanization of legislation. He noted that the bill violates current legislation and the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities.

But she unscrupulously deceived not only her fellow deputies, but also those who are directly affected by this law. The committee did not accept any of the amendments submitted by public organizations and associations of people with disabilities, their opinion was simply ignored“, the expert noted.

The draft law cancels financial support for enterprises of public associations of persons with disabilities, which provide employment to thousands of people with disabilities, as well as tax benefits for such enterprises. In addition, the draft law cancels the regulations on printing literature in Braille and excludes from the legislation the regulations on labor rehabilitation of the disabled.

“Nonsense, but the draft law on ensuring the rights of persons with disabilities to work excludes from Ukrainian legislation the norms regarding labor and other types of rehabilitation and their financing. And it also legalizes the dismissal of employees who have had an accident/occupational disease at work”Pavlovsky emphasized.

The “National Assembly of People with Disabilities of Ukraine” has already appealed to people’s deputies to prevent the adoption of this scandalous law and to take into account the opinion of the community of people with disabilities.
