This year, the ports of Ukraine set a new record for container traffic during the war
For the first eight months of 2025, Ukrainian seaports handled 134,191 TEUs, which is the highest figure since the beginning of the full-scale war. This was reported by the Association of International Forwarders of Ukraine.
According to the association, in January-August seaports of Ukraine processed 134,191 TEU, which is 3.3% higher than the annual figure of 2024. A total of 129,902 TEUs were handled in 2024. The structure of transportation for eight months is as follows: export – 66,892 TEU, import – 63,042 TEU, transit – 4,257 TEU.
“Despite the war, shelling and numerous challenges of global logistics – Ukrainian ports and seaports continue to demonstrate stability and stable growth. Such results are an important signal for business that Ukrainian ports remain reliable even in crisis conditions and are able to serve export-import cargo, the message states.
At the same time, AMEU head Viktor Berestenko stressed that more than 60% of value-added cargo and finished products continue to go through the Baltic States. And in order for the ports to restore the pre-war volume of transshipment, additional efforts are still needed.
“The target is 200,000 TEUs. But we still need to work to reach 1,048,691 in 2021, Viktor Berestenko added.
