TikTok introduces mandatory meditation feature for teens

TikTok is introducing a mandatory meditation feature for users under 18. It is activated after 22:00 and encourages teenagers to take a break from using the application and “relax”. About this informs Engadget.
After 10:00 p.m., reminders to take a meditation break appear in the application. If the user ignores the first message, the system will show a second, more persistent reminder.
The initial tests of the “Sleep hours” function gave a positive result: 98% of teenagers left the night meditation mode activated. Meanwhile, TikTok’s previous initiatives to limit screen time have had a different effect. According to documents released as part of a lawsuit against the company, teens spent an average of 107 minutes a day on the app, even though the 60-minute limit was set.
Adult users also have the option to manually enable this feature in the settings using the time limit options.
It will be recalled that the further fate of TikTok in the US remains officially uncertain, as President Donald Trump last month signed another extension of the potential ban on the application. The terms of the final deal, which would allow TikTok to remain in the US market on a permanent basis, have not yet been disclosed, although there are already several interested buyers.
