Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy is ready to cede Crimea in exchange for the cessation of hostilities and the achievement of peace. This was stated by US President Donald Trump. informs Sky News.
The US president positively assessed his meeting with Zelenskyi in the Vatican and added that the next few days will show whether progress has been achieved.
Asked about the shift in sentiment after a high-profile White House controversy in late February, Trump said:
“I see that he (Zelensky) has become calmer, I think he understands the picture, I think he wants to make a deal.”
At the same time, the US president called on Vladimir Putin to stop the war and “come to an agreement”.
“I am very disappointed by the Russian strikes on Ukraine. I will answer the question of whether I trust Putin in about two weeks.” – Trump said.
He also expressed his belief that Zelensky is ready to give up Crimea.
“Let’s see what happens in the next few days. Don’t talk to me about Crimea, talk about Crimea with Obama and Biden“, the American president concluded.
It will be recalled that last week several Western media reported that Washington had offered Kyiv a peace plan consisting of seven points. According to this plan, Ukraine must recognize Crimea and the temporarily occupied territories under Russian control, as well as abandon its desire to join NATO.
