Trump had a long phone call with Putin
US President Donald Trump spent negotiations with Russian President Vladimir Putin, during which they discussed, in particular, the war against Ukraine.
Trump noted that the conversation was long and very productive. They discussed Russia’s war against Ukraine, the situation in the Middle East, energy, artificial intelligence, the financial stability of the dollar and other issues.
The American president clarified that during the conversation, he and Putin discussed how the USA and Russia were allies in the Second World War, as well as the significant losses suffered by the Russian Federation during that period. He also noted that he and Putin agreed on close cooperation, in particular, on mutual visits.
“We discussed the strengths of our countries and opportunities for mutually beneficial cooperation. However, the primary task, as we both agreed, is to stop the huge human losses in the war between Russia and Ukraine.”, Trump said.
In turn, Kremlin press secretary Dmytro Peskov confirmed that the telephone conversation between Trump and Putin took place and lasted about an hour and a half. According to him, among other things, the parties discussed the issue of prisoner exchange between the USA and Russia. The American leader assured that Washington will abide by the agreements reached.
Also, according to Peskov, Putin agreed with Trump that a long-term settlement of Russia’s war against Ukraine is possible only through negotiations. In addition, the press secretary of the Kremlin reported that the leaders agreed to organize a personal meeting.
“The President of Russia invited the President of the United States to Moscow and expressed his readiness to receive American officials to discuss mutual interests, in particular, issues related to the settlement of the situation in Ukraine.” – said Peskov.
