Trump suspended foreign aid provided by the United States to other states

President-elect Donald Trump has signed an executive order temporarily suspending all US foreign aid programs for 90 days. This decision was made in order to check their compliance with the political goals of the Trump administration, informs White House website.
In Trump’s view, the foreign aid system and the accompanying bureaucracy do not always serve the interests of the United States and often contradict American values. He warned that such aid could lead to global destabilization by promoting ideas that are contrary to stable and harmonious relations both within and between states.
The order establishes that further foreign aid will be consistent with the foreign policy of the Trump administration. The authority to make aid decisions is given to US Secretary of State Marco Rubio or his designee after consultation with the Office of Management and Budget.
It is not yet clear how much the decision will affect aid programs, since many of them are already funded by Congress and the funds have either been spent or are in the process of being used.
Trump has long criticized foreign aid, even though it makes up about 1 percent of the federal budget. At the same time, this figure does not take into account special expenses, such as supplying Ukraine with billions of dollars worth of weapons to strengthen its defense capabilities in the war with Russia.
