Two passenger trains collide in the UK: one dead, almost 90 injured
A large-scale train accident involving two passenger trains occurred in the United Kingdom near the city of Bedford, near Cambridge. The driver of one of the trains died as a result of the collision, and dozens of people suffered injuries of varying severity. This was reported by SkyNews.
According to preliminary data, a passenger train traveling from Corby crashed into the tail of another passenger train that was on the same track. As a result of the strong impact, one of the carriages derailed.
As emergency services reported after the rescue operation was completed, the train driver died. Another 11 people were seriously injured, 22 passengers were seriously injured, and 56 people suffered minor injuries. More than 20 ambulance crews and six ambulance helicopters were involved in the elimination of the consequences of the accident.
The British Minister of Transport stated that the circumstances and causes of the accident would be thoroughly investigated.
King Charles III, through a representative of Buckingham Palace, expressed his condolences to the family of the deceased driver and all those affected by the tragedy.
