Tymoshenko’s bail was paid in full – over 33 million hryvnias

The entire bail amount of 33 million 280 thousand hryvnias set by the Supreme Anti-Corruption Court for Yulia Tymoshenko was paid.

The bail was paid by ten people, including sponsors close to the Batkivshchyna party. The contributions were made within several days so that the deputy could comply with the court decision within the specified period. If the bail is not paid, the prosecution could apply for a more stringent preventive measure.

As previously reported, Tymoshenko is suspected of bribing deputies to influence voting in the Verkhovna Rada. On January 14, the NABU released audio recordings in which the politician’s voice is likely discussing amounts and giving instructions on voting “for” or “against” bills, in particular those relating to appointments and resignations.

During the meeting of the Supreme Judicial Council on January 16, Tymoshenko noted that another MP on the NABU tapes, Ihor Kopytin from the “Servant of the People” party, was allegedly organized a “provocation” against her at the request of the bureau. She denied all charges of corruption and called the audio recordings false.

Tymoshenko faces up to 10 years in prison with confiscation of property under Part 4 of Article 369 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
