Ukraine allocated more than UAH 37.5 billion for the construction of fortifications

In order to strengthen defense capabilities in key areas, since the beginning of 2024, Ukraine has allocated more than UAH 37.5 billion from the budget to the construction of fortifications.

About this reported Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Finance, Tax and Customs Policy, Danylo Hetmantsev.

According to him, the program for the construction of fortifications has already been allocated:

  • January 12 – UAH 2.49 billion;
  • January 19 – UAH 17.45 billion;
  • April 2 – UAH 5.58 billion;
  • April 12 – UAH 3.88 billion;
  • April 23 – UAH 8.12 billion.

“It is about fortifications of various types and classes: from the simplest to powerful multi-level defense lines“, said the People’s Deputy.

Hetmantsev emphasized that this is not only a need of the present, but also an investment in security for the future.

“This is a mechanism for supporting the real sector of the economy, because hundreds of Ukrainian enterprises from many industries are involved in the processes of manufacturing equipment, its installation and assembly“, he added.

In general, in 2023, more than UAH 1.7 billion was allocated from the reserve fund of the state budget for the construction of fortifications. Also, in August last year, more than 1.2 billion UAH were allocated from the state budget to strengthen the defense lines of the northeastern regions of Ukraine.
