Ukraine and France are preparing record supplies of AASM Hammer for the Armed Forces of Ukraine

Ukraine, together with France, is working to achieve record volumes of deliveries of AASM Hammer guided aviation bombs. The Ministry of Defense notes that these munitions have been demonstrating high efficiency on the battlefield for several years and allow Ukrainian aviation to deliver precise strikes at a considerable distance.

The French Air Force uses AASM Hammer from various types of combat aircraft, including the F-16, Dassault Rafale, and Mirage 2000D. In Ukraine, these munitions were adapted for use on MiG-29 fighters in the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

AASM Hammer is a modernization kit that converts conventional free-fall aerial bombs into high-precision guided weapons. It includes a guidance unit and a tail module with wings and an accelerator. Depending on the modification, the guidance system can be inertial, satellite, laser or infrared, which ensures accuracy of destruction with a deviation of up to 10 meters.

Due to the presence of an accelerator, the range of application can reach up to 70 kilometers. This allows aircraft to perform combat missions beyond the range of most enemy air defenses.

The most common are kits for 250-kilogram Mk 82 and 1000-kilogram Mk 84 bombs, but there are modifications for other types of ammunition.

It was previously reported that in February, enterprises of the Ukrainian defense-industrial complex received the first permits for the export of weapons. All relevant decisions are made under state control with the priority of meeting the needs of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
