Ukraine and Poland signed an agreement on railway cooperation
Polish and Ukrainian railways are strengthening cooperation by signing a framework agreement on the safe and uninterrupted movement of trains across the border and the implementation of joint cross-border projects. This is reports PAP agency.
At the TRAKO exhibition in Gdańsk, Polish Railways (PLK) and Ukrzaliznytsia concluded an agreement that should ensure stable rail connections between the two countries. PLK noted that the document defines the principles of traffic organization, operation and maintenance of infrastructure, as well as technical parameters of work on both sides of the border.
The agreement provides for the introduction of procedures for concluding local railway boundary agreements (LRAA) for individual sections. This will allow regulation of traffic schedules, rules for using equipment, requirements for personnel and placement of infrastructure elements of one country on the territory of another.
The signing was not only a confirmation of current cooperation, but also a starting point for future joint initiatives, including international economic projects and cross-border investments. PLK President Piotr Vyborsky emphasized the strategic importance of partnership with Ukraine for security, efficiency and development of the region’s economy.
The document was signed by Pyotr Vyborskyi and the chairman of the board of Ukrzaliznytsia Oleksandr Pertsovskyi. It is noted that this is the first international PLK contract concluded within the framework of the TRAKO exhibition.
