Ukraine and the European Commission agreed on steps to fulfill EU requirements in the field of heat supply, energy modernization and transport

Maryna Denysyuk and Kostyantyn Kovalchuk, Deputy Ministers of Development of Communities and Territories of Ukraine, met with the European Commission delegation of the Directorate General for Enlargement and Eastern Partnership (DG ENEST), which was headed by the head of the economic and social policy department of DG ENEST, Benoit Mesnard. The main topic of the meeting was coordination of steps to implement the Ukraine Facility for 2025 in the fields of heat supply, energy modernization and transport.

Kostyantyn Kovalchuk, together with representatives of the delegation, examined the implementation of three Ukraine Facility indicators. Maryna Denisyuk informed about the state of implementation of projects in the fields of water supply, heat supply and transport, in particular, regarding their inclusion in the Unified Project Portfolio for 2026.

“Priority projects and programs are included in the EPP-2026. Thus, a separate program has been approved for the development of border infrastructure and the expansion of TEN-T corridors, and all current CEF projects are included in it in accordance with the amendments to CMU Resolution 527. We also welcome Moldova’s European integration choice. In recent years, we have been actively working together on projects related to the development of the border, the liberalization of road transport, so we confidently continue cooperation and count on the support of the EU. noted Maryna Denysiuk.

Currently, within the framework of the Connecting Europe Facility (CEF) program, 11 projects for the development of transport infrastructure, launched in 2022-2024, are being implemented. They cover rail transport, road corridors, river transport and civil aviation and are part of the process of integrating Ukraine’s transport system into the European TEN-T network.

“Russia continues to target our critical infrastructure, civilian objects. We prepare for all possible scenarios in the event of such shelling and practice actions in various situations. All efforts are aimed at ensuring a stable passage of the heating season. At the same time, despite the challenges facing Ukraine, we remain European-integrated and continue to work on improving the legislative framework in the field of heat supply in order to make services more accessible and closer to people, stressed Kostyantyn Kovalchuk.
