Ukraine has agreed with Greece on a 50% discount on gas transportation

The Ukrainian government has reached an agreement with the Greek side to provide a 50% discount on the transportation of natural gas through the territory of Greece to the north – for further supply to the Ukrainian border. This was reported by Deputy Minister of Energy Mykola Kolisnyk during the briefing “Status of the 2025-2026 heating season.” The official noted that the ministry is actively negotiating with neighboring states and operators of their gas transportation systems to expand the possibilities of importing gas to Ukraine during the heating season. In particular, this is from the Trans-Balkan gas pipeline (the “Vertical Corridor” – a gas pipeline from terminals on the coast of Greece, through the territory of Bulgaria, Romania and Moldova to Ukraine). The other day, an agreement was reached in Greece on a 50% discount on this tariff, which makes it commercially profitable, he explained. Kolesnyk also reported that trading companies have already submitted additional orders for the use of the transport capacity of the Vertical Corridor to import gas into Ukraine. In addition, the Ukrainian side is negotiating with the operator of the Polish gas transportation system, GAZ-SYSTEM, to guarantee stable gas import opportunities from Poland. We have a guaranteed capacity for natural gas to enter the Ukrainian gas transmission system in all directions. This is a guarantee that if the enemy continues to attack, we will be able to receive this molecule from different directions, the Deputy Minister of Energy added.
