Ukraine has successfully passed the screening of the EU “Free Movement of Goods”

At the beginning of March 2025, Ukraine successfully completed the official screening of compliance of its legislation with the norms of the European Union within the framework of the negotiation section “Free movement of goods”. About this reported Ministry of Economy.

Preparation for the procedure lasted six months and involved coordination between various state bodies and structures. During the screening, which took place from March 3 to 6, the Ukrainian side presented more than 44 presentations highlighting the compliance of national legislation with 59 EU regulations regulating industrial products.

Screening is an official procedure that assesses the compliance of the candidate country’s legislation with EU law. It is held within 33 negotiating chapters, grouped into six thematic blocks (clusters). Based on the results of the analysis, key reform priorities (benchmarks) for the entire cluster will be determined.

“The free movement of goods is one of the key freedoms of the EU single market, which allows for the elimination of technical barriers in trade between member countries. During the screening, we presented to the European Commission more than 44 presentations on 59 acts of EU legislation regulating industrial products. The European side highly appreciated our progress in harmonizing norms and fulfilling obligations under the Association Agreement.” – noted Deputy Minister of Economy of Ukraine Vitaliy Kindrativ.

After the screening, the European Commission will prepare a report, based on which the Council of the EU will decide on the opening of the relevant negotiation cluster.
