Ukraine ranked second in the ranking of the most dangerous countries in the world
Ukraine is in second place among the most dangerous countries in the world according to the Global Peace Index-2025. As analysts from the international organization Institute for Economics & Peace, the rating took into account all types of threats – from domestic crime to large-scale military conflicts – and compared the situation in 163 countries.
Experts note that global stability has deteriorated in recent years due to increasing political instability, the number and intensity of conflicts, as well as geopolitical fragmentation.
“The countdown of this deterioration begins in 2014”, the report says.
Analysts named the Middle East, North Africa and South Asia as the most dangerous regions, while Western and Central Europe remain the most peaceful. The ranking took into account internal and external conflicts, crime rates, terrorist activity, violent demonstrations, relations with neighbors, political stability, the number of refugees, military spending and contributions to UN peacekeeping missions.
In 2025, the safest countries were Iceland, Ireland, New Zealand, Austria, Switzerland, Singapore, Portugal, Denmark, Slovenia and Finland.
The least safe countries were Russia, Ukraine, Sudan, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Yemen, Afghanistan, Syria, South Sudan, Israel and Mali.
