The state allocated 2.5 billion hryvnias for generators for seven regions from the reserve fund

On January 21, the Cabinet of Ministers decided to allocate 2.56 billion hryvnias from the State Budget reserve fund for the purchase of mobile distributed generation equipment. This was announced by Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko.

“We are attracting all possible resources to increase distributed generation in the face of a difficult situation in the energy sector,” she noted.

The allocated funds will be used to purchase high-power generators that should provide heat and electricity supply in regions with the greatest need. These include, in particular, Dnipropetrovsk, Donetsk, Zaporizhia, Odessa, Sumy, Kharkiv and Chernihiv regions. If necessary, the equipment will be able to be quickly transferred to other regions.

The government’s decision provides for simplified procurement procedures to avoid delays. The responsible customer and the procedure for using the generators have also been determined: they are planned to be used for the uninterrupted operation of heat and water supply facilities, as well as sewage systems.

“In the context of constant Russian attacks on the energy infrastructure, we need not only large energy facilities, but also smaller distributed generation installations – independent of the operation of centralized networks,” Svyrydenko emphasized.

In addition, the head of government reported that in the coming days, shipments from Slovakia and the Czech Republic with generators, transformers, cables, medical equipment and other humanitarian aid will arrive in Ukraine. Also next week, Ireland will transfer 25 million euros to the Ukraine Energy Support Fund.
