Ukraine received a non-refundable grant of $3.9 billion from the USA: Shmyhal
This is the first tranche of direct budget aid from the United States in 2024, the Prime Minister noted.

On August 5, Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal reported, that Ukraine received a $3.9 billion grant from the United States through the World Bank. According to him, these funds will help finance priority budget expenditures, such as salaries of teachers, doctors, rescuers and social assistance.
This is the first tranche of direct budget support from the United States in 2024, Shmyhal explained.
“In general, this year Ukraine will receive $7.8 billion in direct budget aid from the United States, which will enable it to confidently pass this financial period”, — added the prime minister.
At the end of July, Finance Minister Serhiy Marchenko announced the receipt of the first tranche of a large aid package from the United States. At that time, the funds were already in the accounts of the World Bank.
In total, in 2024, Ukraine expects to receive 7.8 billion dollars. The first tranche is $3.9 billion. Marchenko also expressed hope that the second part will also be a grant for Ukraine. According to him, the parameters remain similar to all other tranches of aid from the United States: the funds are first sent to the accounts of the World Bank, and only then transferred to Ukraine through the PEACE in Ukraine project to cover social and humanitarian expenses.
