Ukraine to receive another tranche from the IMF worth over $1 billion

The Board of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) successfully completed the fifth review of the Enhanced Financing Program (EFF) for Ukraine, which made it possible to allocate another tranche of $1.1 billion to the country. These funds will be used to support the budget of Ukraine. About this it is said in the official notification of the IMF.

In its release, the IMF noted that, despite difficult conditions, the Ukrainian economy remains stable, and the EFF program is being implemented at a high level. All quantitative benchmarks set at the end of June were achieved, and four structural benchmarks were successfully completed.

The fund emphasized the importance of maintaining macroeconomic stability, strengthening state finances and fulfilling debt obligations. For this, it is necessary to continue reforms, actively mobilize internal resources and ensure timely receipt of external financial assistance.

Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal emphasized that the received funds will be used to finance non-military budget expenditures. He also added that during the review of the program, the schedule of tranches for 2025 was optimized, which will allow the state to attract more resources to stabilize the economy.

Ukraine’s cooperation with the IMF: key points

In September 2024, the IMF announced that it had reached a preliminary agreement with Ukraine on the allocation of the next tranche in the amount of 1.1 billion dollars. The fund remains a key international creditor of Kyiv. The current four-year, $15.6 billion program is an important component of global economic support for Ukraine in the face of a full-scale Russian invasion. This assistance is vital for Ukraine, which is preparing for the third winter of war.
