Cyber specialists from the Defence Intelligence of Ukraine have successfully attacked the network infrastructure of the North Caucasus Federal University, which trains specialists for the Russian army, including drone operators, digital communications specialists, engineers and physicists. This was reported by the sources of hromadske.
The university under cyber attack unites a number of educational institutions in several regions of Russia, including 7 institutes. As a result of the operation, the university’s internal information infrastructure was damaged, websites, databases and file storages totalling more than 150 terabytes were destroyed.
The cyberattack affected 11 websites, more than 7,000 office computers, 135 servers and file storages. To support the main operation, additional cyberattacks were also carried out on other Internet resources and file systems of organisations associated with the Russian army.
Upon completion of the operation, the hackers posted propaganda materials on the affected websites in support of the Ukrainian Armed Forces’ offensive. According to the sources, the attack resulted in a weakening of Russia’s educational and scientific base and a reduction in the ability to train military specialists due to cyber activities of Ukrainian intelligence.
