Ukrzaliznytsia records significant growth in demand: 4 people per seat on trains to the sea and the Carpathians

In the summer period, the demand for railway transportation in Ukraine increased significantly, especially in the directions to the Carpathians and the sea. In some trains, the competition for tickets reaches at least four people per seat. About this reported press service of Ukrzaliznytsia.

According to the company, train occupancy ranges between 95-100%, and the number of requests on the app far exceeds the number of available seats. For example, 30,000 seats were available on the Odesa — Kyiv route, while the number of requests was 125,000. In the Kyiv — Lviv direction, 70,000 available seats were accompanied by 210,000 requests.

“The demand for railway transportation currently exceeds the technical capabilities of Ukrzaliznytsia. So, if you analyze the demand for the Odesa – Kyiv – Odesa route from July 1 to 16: 30,000 seats were available on trains, and 125,000 searches for this direction were made in the Ukrzaliznytsia application. This is more than 4 people per physically available seat on the train.”, – reported in the press service of UZ.

The popularity of mountain destinations has also increased several times: the demand for the route Kyiv — Yaremche has increased by 460%, and for the route Kyiv — Bukovel — by 406%.
