Unprecedented danger: more than 100 missiles and drones flew near the nuclear power plant in a few weeks

Over the past few weeks, more than 70 Russian drones and more than 30 cruise missiles have been recorded flying near Ukrainian nuclear power plants. About this reported press service of NAEC “Energoatom”.

The company emphasized that these actions of Russia create an “unprecedented threat not only for Ukraine, but also for the whole of Europe.”

“Prior to this, no state in the world created similar threats to nuclear facilities”, – stated in the press release.

Energoatom provides all information about such incidents to relevant government agencies so that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine can send diplomatic notes to the International Atomic Energy Agency and inform both national and international organizations.

“We expect a strong reaction and condemnation of the actions of the Russian aggressor. The international community must force the Russian Federation to stop creating threats to Ukraine’s nuclear power plants.”, – stressed the head of Energoatom Petro Kotin.

Recently, a flight of a Russian “Shaheed” was recorded during a night attack in the immediate vicinity of the Khmelnytsky NPP. The drone was shot down by air defense forces.

The head of the Khmelnytskyi OVA Serhii Tyurin stated that the Russian Federation deliberately directs the routes of its missiles and drones through Ukrainian nuclear facilities, which is part of their terrorist tactics. According to him, this is not the first time that Russian drones have flown near the nuclear power plant.

At the end of August, Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal announced that Ukraine is working on two levels of protection of energy facilities from Russian air attacks. As for the third level of protection against missile strikes, experimental projects have been developed – large-scale structures that should cover substations with an area of up to three football fields.

“They are extremely expensive, and their economic expediency has not yet been understood. These are hundreds of billions of hryvnias.”, – said the head of the government.

At the same time, he added that “this is huge money, which partners are not ready to give and which is not in the Ukrainian budget.”
