US Special Envoy Steve Witkoff Arrives in Moscow

US special envoy Steve Witkoff arrived in Moscow, where he was met at the airport by the Russian investment representative Kirill Dmitriev. About this informs Reuters.

Witkoff is scheduled to hold a meeting with representatives of the Russian authorities on Wednesday, August 6. Russian media also confirmed that the plane used by the American envoy landed at Vnukovo Airport.

It will be recalled that on August 4, US President Donald Trump announced that Witkoff’s visit to Moscow may take place on August 6 or 7. He also warned that the United States would impose sanctions if Russia did not agree to a ceasefire in Ukraine before the 10-day deadline.

“There will be sanctions. But the Russians seem to be good at getting around them. You know, they’re crafty guys, and they’re good at avoiding sanctions. So we’ll see what happens. But right now Steve Witkoff is focused on the border situation, specifically helping Gaza — getting food. And probably next week — Wednesday or Thursday — he’s going to Russia. They want to see him. They’ve invited him. So we’ll see what happens.”, — Trump noted.

After the negotiations, the White House will make a decision on the possible introduction of sanctions against Russia and the states that continue to buy its energy resources.
