US-Ukraine talks to continue on January 7: Witkoff
Following meetings in Paris within the so-called “Coalition of the Decisive”, the United States announced its intention to continue negotiations with Ukraine on January 7. Washington emphasizes that the consultations cover not only the issue of ending the war, but also future security guarantees and the economic recovery of Ukraine.
This was reported by advisor and special envoy of US President Donald Trump Steve Witkoff on the social network X, summarizing the results of a busy day of negotiations with European and Ukrainian partners.
“We have held several meetings with European leaders, including President Macron, and Ukrainian leaders, including President Zelensky, and we are inspired by the common approach and partnership between the parties“, – emphasized Witkoff.
According to him, the parties have demonstrated a willingness to work on solutions that go beyond short-term agreements. Trump’s special envoy noted that during the consultations, “significant progress” was achieved in several important areas at once, in particular, in developing a bilateral system of security guarantees for Ukraine and forming a plan for economic prosperity after the end of hostilities.
Steve Witkoff emphasized that the meeting in Paris is not final. According to him, negotiations with the Ukrainian delegation will continue without pauses, which indicates an intensive schedule and the desire of the parties to maintain momentum. Separately, Trump’s special envoy expressed cautious optimism, noting that he expects “additional positive momentum” in the near future, without disclosing details of possible agreements.
