US Vice President J.D. Vance said he was “grateful” to the Pope for his comments on Trump
US Vice President J.D. Vance said he was “grateful” to Pope Leo XIV for his recent statements about Donald Trump. He said this during a conversation with journalists, quoted by the New York Post.
On the eve, Pope Leo XIV said that he had no intention of arguing with US President Donald Trump about the war in Iran, and his last words, which were perceived as a continuation of the discussion, were recorded in the speech much earlier.
Commenting on this, Vance said:
“I am grateful to Pope Leo for these words. While the media constantly inflates conflicts – and yes, real disagreements have happened and will happen – the reality is often much more complicated.”
The day before, the Pope said that his speech with the phrase about “a handful of tyrants spending billions on wars” was written two weeks ago, before Trump attacked him with criticism.
After the first wave of criticism from Donald Trump, the Pope said that he was not afraid and would continue to deliver the messages that he considers necessary.
At the same time, Trump said that he was “shocked” by the behavior of Italian Prime Minister Giorgi Maloni after she criticized him for his words about Pope Leo XIV.
