Verkhovna Rada adopts law to improve the work of the MSEC
The Verkhovna Rada adopted draft law No. 11225 as a whole, which is aimed at improving the procedures of medical and social examination (MSEK). 284 deputies voted for the draft law, people’s deputies reported Oleksiy Honcharenko and Iryna Gerashchenko.
The authors of the draft law emphasize that today the MSEK performs a function that does not contribute to the achievement of the main goals of rehabilitation — restoring the health of patients to the highest possible level. Both civilian and military patients face difficulties in the work of MSEK, which requires reform of this system.
The main changes introduced by the draft law include:
- The possibility of online participation in MSEK meetings, which will allow patients to save time and money, in particular for those who live far from centers of medical and social expertise.
- The updated procedure for determining disability, which instead of mandatory personal presence will allow consideration of patients’ documents, which will speed up the examination process.
- Integration of MSEK results into the electronic health care system (EHS), which will ensure transparent access of doctors to data and simplify decision-making.
Note that these changes are taking place against the background of President Volodymyr Zelenskyi’s recent statement about the possible closure of MSEK from January 1, 2025.
