Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced the launch of mass production of an alternative to Mavic drones
President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced the start of mass production of a new model of drones, which should become an alternative to the Chinese Mavic drones. He stated this during a briefing.
“Next is Mavic. A very important issue. We were looking for alternatives – alternatives have been found. There will be mass production of this alternative. Funded relevant contracts will now be prepared,” — the president said.
DJI Mavic series drones, originally created for civilian and commercial use, have become one of the most common and important unmanned aerial vehicles on the front due to their compactness, affordability and high quality of shooting, especially in the Mavic 3 and Mavic 3 Thermal models. In the Ukrainian army, these drones are used mainly for tactical reconnaissance at a distance of up to 15 kilometers, adjusting artillery fire, and after modification, for dropping small ammunition on enemy positions, acting as the “eyes” of infantry and artillery.
Zelensky also emphasized that drones intended for evacuation should be included in the system of additional points (e-Points), because “the main task is to save people’s lives, this is a priority.”
In addition, the president reported on the report of the commander of the Unmanned Systems Forces, Robert Brovdy, who presented a program aimed at strengthening the protection of the sky over Kherson. According to Zelensky, the program is already ready and has received support. He instructed to develop similar initiatives for border cities and the most dangerous communities.
