Volodymyr Zelenskyy called for sanctions not to be eased until the deoccupation of all territories of Ukraine

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that the Russian Federation must be held responsible for its actions until all Ukrainian citizens and all occupied territories are liberated. In his opinion, easing sanctions during this period is unacceptable. The head of state said this in his opening remarks at the opening of a diplomatic conference in The Hague.

Zelenskyy emphasized that Ukraine is fighting for the fundamental right to life and security, and stressed that these issues directly concern the whole of Europe. He warned European states against taking the threats lightly, recalling the continent’s long history of wars.

The President specifically drew attention to the need to maintain all sanctions and other restrictive measures imposed against Russia. According to him, international pressure must remain unchanged as long as Ukrainian land is under occupation, Ukrainians remain in captivity, and the illegal removal of children continues.

The Head of State also stated that he expects further decisive steps from the Council of Europe. In particular, he expressed hope for the early start of work of a special tribunal on the crime of aggression of the Russian Federation, emphasizing that this is important not only for Ukraine, but also for all European countries that seek lasting peace.
