Volodymyr Zelenskyy signed a law on ensuring transparency in the activities of local governments
President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy signed Law No. 14048, aimed at ensuring the legality and transparency of the activities of local self-government bodies. This was announced on November 11 by Minister of Community and Territorial Development Oleksiy Kuleba.
“Today, the President of Ukraine signed Law No. 14048 “On Amendments to Certain Legislative Acts on Ensuring the Legality and Transparency in the Activities of Local Self-Government Bodies”. We are grateful to the President for supporting this important stage of the reform, on which we systematically worked together with people’s deputies, all-Ukrainian associations of local governments and experts, ” — said Oleksiy Kuleba.
According to him, the adoption of the law is an important step for the development of communities, as they will receive “more predictable, accountable and effective governance”.
“The law also opens up the opportunity to receive another support from the EU within the framework of the Ukraine Facility. The adoption of the Law is another step towards European standards of public governance” — added the Minister.
Let us recall that on November 4, the Verkhovna Rada adopted this draft law in its entirety — 250 people’s deputies voted “for” The law provides for the creation of a system for monitoring the legality and transparency of decisions of local self-government bodies and defines mechanisms for state supervision over them. In addition, the document contains provisions on the formation of a personnel reserve for the appointment of heads of district state administrations and establishes requirements for candidates for these positions.
