A military man with the call sign “Istok”, the former head of the Young Fighter Course and the hero of the documentary film “We Were Recruits”, expressed his belief that mobilization in Ukraine should begin at the age of 21, and not at 25, as is the case now.
“I think it is necessary to mobilize from 21. “The war of young people”. There is this golden expression, it really works that way. When you are young, you have health, you have the opportunity to learn something in this life. The army gives you, even if we take without war, the basis of a young man“, – said “Istok”.
In his interview he emphasized that youth is the time when a person has the most energy, health and potential for learning. That is why service in the army at such an age can become an important stage of personality formation and acquisition of necessary life skills.
“Istok” is convinced that the army gives young people not only military training, but also valuable experience of life in a male team, the ability to survive in difficult conditions, make decisions in critical situations and take responsibility for their actions. In addition, military service teaches the basics of medicine, self-defense and develops leadership qualities.
He also noted that contract service in the army provides young people with a stable income, social protection and the opportunity to receive benefits that will be useful in later life. For example, the status of a combatant gives the right to participate in state business support programs and receive preferential loans.
“Istok” emphasized that the defense of one’s country is the duty of every citizen, and called on young people not to be afraid of responsibility and to contribute to the victory. He also dispelled the myth that all those mobilized join the infantry, noting that there are many specialties in the army and everyone can find their place according to their abilities and interests.
