When the military will be able to rest: the General Staff’s plans for demobilization

Talks about demobilization and its conditions have been going on for a long time, because part of the military has been protecting the country for more than two years. Such a long term in the war is a catastrophic physical and psychological exhaustion, a decrease in motivation.

So far, there are no specific decisions regarding the possibility of dismissing those soldiers who have been protecting the country for a long time from the army. However, the General Staff says that the updating of legislation on mobilization is already showing results – the pace of conscription has increased. If this trend continues for a few more months, it will be possible to talk about demobilization, according to Roman Kostenko, secretary of the parliamentary committee on national security, defense and intelligence.

The day before, Mr. Roman, together with other members of the committee, met with representatives of the General Staff of the Armed Forces and the Ministry of Defense. Among the issues discussed during the meeting was the regulation of the demobilization process. Maintaining the pace of mobilization at the current level will allow the adoption of relevant legislative changes already in October.

“The General Staff is now really satisfied with the pace of mobilization. The number of those mobilized currently even exceeds expectations. They hope that this trend will continue. If by the end of the summer we see that these paces are maintained and increased, then it will be possible to work out and introduce a bill on demobilization to the Verkhovna Rada “, – speak Roman Kostenko.
