Zelensky told about new special departments abroad to return Ukrainians

The Ukrainian government plans to set up special departments abroad to support the return of Ukrainians to their homeland, starting with Germany and Poland. This was stated by President Volodymyr Zelenskyy during a meeting with representatives of territorial communities and districts of Zakarpattia.

According to him, the foundations of the new migration policy will be enshrined in the Victory Plan, which is currently being developed. As part of this strategy, Ukraine plans to strengthen its presence abroad by creating specialised departments that will deal with human capital issues. The first representative offices will appear in Poland and Germany.

There will be employment programmes in Ukraine, because these people have lost even the information connection. They need to gather somewhere, to get information not only from the Internet,’ Zelenskyy stressed.

The President acknowledged that the return of Ukrainians is a challenge, especially given the desire of some foreign governments to keep only those who work. According to him, about 300,000 Ukrainians in Germany are not employed and do not plan to change this.

Leaders and countries want to keep only those Ukrainians who work and are looking for ways to force those Ukrainians who do not work to return to Ukraine. This part of people will return because social benefits will disappear. Countries will stop helping them as soon as their societies start supporting it,’ Zelensky explained.

He also noted that a significant number of Ukrainians expect to return after the war is over, when security guarantees are in place and the economic situation in Ukraine improves.
