Zelensky will meet with the new president of Slovakia in Brussels and sign a security agreement

On the sidelines of the European Union leaders’ summit in Brussels, which will take place on Thursday, June 27, the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyi will hold a meeting with the newly elected President of Slovakia Peter Pellegrini.

This information was confirmed by Pellegrini himself in a statement for edition Pravda.sk.

We have planned, although I don’t know if it will happen yet, another face-to-face bilateral meeting between us also in Washington at the NATO summit in July. These will be two meetings that will precede my official visit to Ukraine“, Pellegrini noted.

In addition, he noted that another meeting between the presidents of Ukraine and Slovakia is planned at the NATO summit in Washington in July. Both of these meetings will precede Pellegrini’s official visit to Ukraine.

According to the information Reuters agency, the European Union confirms its commitment to continue the supply of weapons, training for the Armed Forces of Ukraine and other long-term assistance.

The agreement to be signed will consolidate nine areas of security policy, including cooperation in the defense industry and demining. In case of “future aggression”, the EU and Ukraine undertake to hold consultations and promptly determine the next steps within 24 hours.

According to the draft document, EU obligations will remain in force “as long as Ukraine continues its European path” and will be reviewed no later than 10 years later. The document does not specify the cost or amount of future assistance.

In total, Ukraine has already concluded 17 bilateral security agreements: with Great Britain, Germany, France, Denmark, Canada, Italy, the Netherlands, Finland, Latvia, Spain, Belgium, Portugal, Sweden, Iceland, Norway, Japan and the USA.
