Ukraine will be ready for negotiations with Russia after receiving answers from the US and other allies to its requests, as well as when a common understanding of the threat posed by Putin is formed. In addition, security guarantees must be approved. Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated this at the Munich Security Conference, informs NDTV.
“The question is, what is the configuration for security guarantees? The contingent, the map is ready. The military have done their work. It is not public, where we believe. If there is a military, serious contingent, then we understand in what number and where it should be.
We are ready for any conversations with America, allies, and if there are specific answers from them, as there are specific requests from us, and a general understanding of the dangerous Putin, then after that we will be ready with our united understanding to talk with the Russians.” – noted Zelensky.
The president emphasized that legally Ukraine will never recognize the occupied territories as Russian:
“This is definitely a red line, because it is our sovereignty!”
He clarified that Ukraine needs security guarantees from the US, but the country is ready for peacekeepers from Europe, and even exclusively from Ukraine:
“When we talk about the contingent, the question was asked whether we are ready for a European contingent. I said that we are ready for a contingent that even consists exclusively of Ukrainians. The question is what kind of equipment, weapons? If we have 150-160 F-16 aircraft, 25+ Patriot systems, why do we need US or European teams? If the question is about citizenship, it does not arise. We need the USA as allies.”
